Introduction to a variety of media  including drawing, egg tempera, silver point and watercolour! Instructor Tibor Nyilasi also teaches at the Dundas Valley School of Art.

 

Photography Weekend Workshop with

Brian Thompson

Ages 16 and up

Winter: Feburary 25 & February 26, 2012
Spring: June 2 & June 3, 2012

10:00 am - 3:00 pm

Members $120 / Non members $150

Learn to think and shoot like a professional photographer. Take control of your DSLR (Digital SLR camera) to achieve the results you want. Theory and technical fundamentals will help lay a solid foundation to improving your images.

Beginners are welcome, but a DSLR camera with the ability to shoot in a manual exposure mode is a must. Brian Thompson is an award-winning staff photographer at the Brantford Expositor, where he has been working for the past 25 years.

 

Introduction to Stained Glass with Brian Pickering

(4 classes)

Ages 16 and up

Spring: April 5 - April 26, 2012

All beginners are welcome in this introductory class in the art of stained glass. Instructor Brian Pickering taught for 30 years at Elegance in Glass and also creates commissioned pieces for individuals and corporate clients.

 

Life Drawing with Nude Model

(8 sessions)

Ages 16 and up

Winter: Tuesday January 17 – March 6, 2012
Spring: Tuesday March 27 – May 15, 2012

 7 – 10pm

This class provides you with an opportunity to enhance your drawing skills through the study of the figure. Open to anyone interested in anatomy, as well as an opportunity for students headed for art school to build up your art portfolio. Life Drawing is open to youth 16 years and older with parental consent. Monitor present/ No instructor.

 

Adult Watercolour Classes with Chelo Sebastian

(7 classes)

Winter: Monday January 23 – March 5, 2012
Spring: Monday April 2- May 14, 2012  (no class April 9)

Beginners: Monday 10:00am – 12:30 pm
Advanced: Monday 1:00pm – 3:30 pm

Instructor Chelo Sebastian, an award-winning watercolour artist born in Spain, came to Canada in 1969. Chelo’s spontaneous and expressive style inspires both beginners and advanced painters. Through demonstrations, free associations, imagination and still life props you will explore the media of watercolour.

Short Story Workshop with Larry Brown

(7 classes)

Thursday May 3 – June 14, 2012

*This class will meet for the first time on April 26, 2012 at 6:00pm for a general introduction to the course and an opportunity for participants to distribute 10 copies of the first story to the class and instructor. (You are responsible for your own photocopying.)

This workshop is for adults, 19 years and older, and focuses on the short story. Participants will produce two of their own short stories of up to fifteen typewritten and double spaced pages. The stories will be read and discussed by everyone in the workshop, giving each participant the opportunity to receive responses and critiques in a positive and supportive atmosphere. You will gain a better understanding of how the short story works and how you can apply this understanding to your own writing.

Larry Brown has studied fiction writing at the University of Iowa Summer Writing Workshop and the Humber School for Writers in Toronto. His first collection of stories, Talk, was published by Oberon Press in 2009.

Mosaics Family Workshop with Heather Vollans

Enjoy a day with the family creating a beautiful mosaic pieces suitable for outdoor or indoor with Heather Vollans who has a passion for transforming discarded materials into vibrant mosaics. Heather is also the owner of Dawning Décor Studio.
