Location: The Coach House at Glenhyrst
Sunday November 4, 2018
Time: 10:00 am – 4:00 pm
Fees: Non-mem: $80 Mem: $60

Relief Printmaking is a technique where artists carve a block of material (wood, lino, linosoft), ink the protruding lines and print repeated images on paper and other materials using inks. In this 5-6 hour workshop participants will work on a 4 x 6 piece of linosoft to create an image that will be printed repeatedly to create an edition of prints. A second, more complex image will be created after the first preliminary work, to allow for error correction and advanced application of the process and will use black plus one other colour.

In the first part of this workshop you will learn how to:

1. Develop an image suitable for this printmaking technique
2. Transfer your image onto the block
3. Carve your block with a variety of lines using printmaking tools
4. Learn how to properly ink your block using a brayer
5. Register your block on the paper
6. Hand burnish your image
