Floral Bouquet Tote Bag workshop

Date: Sunday February 9, 2020
Time: 10am to 4pm with 30 minutes for lunch (please bring your own lunch)
Location: Glenhyrst Cottage
Fees: non-mem: $50 mem $40 per pair
(Fees include materials for 2 bags and instruction)

Children and parents learn simple stitches while producing a beautifully decorated tote bag or backpack. Instructor Kay Boyd – a long-time member of the Brant Broderer’s Association – will walk you through the stitches to complete this project. You can keep it as a tote bag or Kay will show you how to convert it to a backpack.

PLEASE NOTE: Each child must have an adult 18 years or older with them to participate. Each person will receive a tote bag and all material as part of the fee.


STEAM – Science + Technology + Engineering + ART + Math

Wednesdays – January 15 to March 4, 2020
Duration: 8 weeks
Time: 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm
Ages: 7 – 10 years

Let us use art to explore the science, technology, engineering and mathematics around us! There are so many ways we can use art to investigate the evolving world, so let us dive in. This creative class will allow us to experiment, build up, break down, and discover a whole bunch of really cool things. In this class we will create our own materials, grow from seeds, dive into colour mixing and use the power of art to learn.

Saturday Art Studio

Saturdays – January 11 to March 7, 2020
(No classes February 15 – Family Day weekend)
Duration: 8 weeks
Time: Junior (4 to 6 years old) 10:00 am – 12:00 pm
Senior (7 to 12 years old) 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm

Join us for our OPEN STUDIO CLASS. Each day we will explore a new material, concept or theme. We will look to Art History for inspiration, explore basic techniques and use our creative imaginations as artists to see what we can create. The artists will have creative decision making over what materials to use, how to use them and what their project will become. This class is designed to freely explore art materials, to learn through experimenting and by making mistakes. And, of course, to have a lot of art fun. This class is wonderful for any child who is a maker, builder, or creator.

Drawing Fundamentals

Sundays – January 12 to March 8, 2020
(No classes February 16 – Family Day weekend)
Duration: 8 weeks
Time: Juniors (7 to 9 years old): 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm
Intermediates (10 to 12 years old): 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm

Young artists will be introduced to different drawing techniques and styles while learning all the tools available in the world of drawing. This is a great program for kids who love to draw and are looking for more guidance and knowledge to grow their talent. Creative thinking is always welcome!

Illustration Studio

Sundays – January 12 to March 8, 2020
(No classes February 16 – Family Day weekend)
Duration: 8 weeks
Time: 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Ages: 13 to 17 years old
Fees: $110 Non-mem $90 mem

Students will expand their drawing skills and learn new techniques to create highly realistic drawings. We will fuel your creativity with a variety of projects and drawing styles. You are also welcome to bring your own projects from school or personal projects to receive guidance and feedback. Assistance with portfolio preparation for post-secondary education will also be available.

Registration Information

Class size is limited, so register early to avoid disappointment. Pre-registration is required for all classes and is on a first-come, first served basis with full payment. Registrations can be made in person, by phone, fax or mail.

Cheque, cash, debit, VISA and MasterCard payments are accepted. NOTE: 13% HST must now be added to all Adult Class Fees. A $20 charge is applied to NSF cheques.

Occasionally a class will not reach its full enrollment and must be canceled, in which case a class refund will be issued. Otherwise, class refunds are issued for medical reasons only with presentation of a doctor’s certificate. A $10 administration fee applies.

All classes and workshops take place in the Coach House Studios unless stated otherwise.
