Summer Arts Camp Instructor 2023

GLENHYRST ART GALLERY IS HIRING instructors for nine weeks of summer arts camp! This position seeks to employ skilled, engaging, supportive, fun and energetic camp instructors, who have relative skills and experience delivering child and youth care programming.

Position Specs:

Start Date: Tuesday June 27, 2023

End Date: Friday September 1, 2023

40 hours per week (Monday to Friday)

Salary: $15.50/hour

Location: Glenhyrst Art Gallery, 20 Ava Road, Brantford

Requirements: Previous experience working with children, Standard First Aid, Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check. Applicants must be between the ages of 18 – 30 years and have been a full time student in the semester preceding the job with an intention of returning to school the following year as per grant requirements.

Desired Qualifications

  • Prior experience working with or supervising children;

  • Good interpersonal and problem solving skills, ability to work independently and within a team;

  • Ability to maintain enthusiasm and energy for long durations of time;

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and deal with sensitive issues with tact and discretion.

Duties Performed

  • Responsible for managing a group of campers and delivering three art activities per day;

  • Program planning and preparations for daily activities;

  • Supervise campers during art activities, outdoor time and during meal times;

  • Ensures camper inclusion;

  • Generates and maintains camper enthusiasm;

  • Monitors campers’ health including hydration, sun protection and overall wellness;

  • Assists with camper arrival and departure procedures;

  • Active participation in pre and post camp periods;

  • Administers first aid as required.
